Lex didn't so much get out of bed as fall out in a mess of sheets and red curls. He frowned as he got up, this wasn't his room, even if he did recognise some of his things. He didn't remember Dad or Pamela or Mom saying anything about moving either, and he wasn't supposed to go anywhere without someone knowing where he was.

Suddenly worried, he patted down his pyjama pockets until he found his inhaler. At least he had that. Even if he had been kidnapped.

When Lucrezia awoke, she noticed several things were awry. For one, her room was sparse; for another, half of the room was occupied by a young boy, and one who was not a Borgia.

She sat up cautiously, wrapping the covers around herself, and eyed him with no small amount of curiosity. He was no danger to her; Papa would never allow danger to come close to her. Had she been betrothed, and taken to live with her new family? Was he a servant-boy who had fallen asleep in her quarters?

"Who are you?" she asked.

She tilted her head slightly, taking that in.

"Not like that," she said, a touch imperiously. "My name is Lucrezia, but I am the daughter of Rodrigo Borgia, Cardinal-Bishop of Albano, Vice-Chancellor to Pope Innocent of Rome. So who are you?"

Lineage, alliances, family, standing, the far more pressing question in her mind.

She did not, in fact, know the name; being five centuries behind carried such risks as not knowing local legends. But the way he pronounced it with such certainty at least let her know that he was no servant-boy, which helped.

"Forgive my ignorance," she said. "Is he a lord, or a merchant?"
